Biogeographic distribution
C. latens is one of the most common species on the reef, from beach rock to rubble crest (Mother & Bennett 1993; Tudge 1995). In Australia, its ranges from the northern tip of the Great Barrier Reef to the northern Tasman Sea:Globally, the range extends from Japan to Australia in latitude, and eastern coast of Africa to Hawaii in longitude (Tudge 1995).
